Let’s start off with clarifying who “Millennial’s” are. They are those born roughly between 1980 and 2004 also referred to as Gen Y.
Do you know what they like and how they like to be talked to? Here are just a few facts on this group of consumers that you should know about when attempting to market to them.
For the millennial generation technology is their language.
They are an optimistic group that cares for the earth and their communities.
They want to be respected and not sold down to but listened to.
Millennial’s get so many brand messages a day that a brand needs to utilize as many channels as it can. Remember….Direct Mail does cross all generations.
Only 20% of millennial’s know what a QR (Quick Response Code) is and how to use them, a couple years from now that will be a completely different story.
While technology will continue to evolve with new and better devices and millennial’s embrace that, they will also have a desire for mail & print and personal communications.
They want to experience things on their own and not be told what to like or how to feel.
They will definitely act upon referrals from friends.
They like video games, social media and extreme sporting events.
They text message and IM and watch YouTube.
When purchasing they will look at these main areas; cheap cost, good quality, fast service and the experience they feel when buying.
They want to buy from companies that are being real with them.
